Classes are run by our friendly and experienced team. Pips Manager, Sarah Jones has a Foundation Degree in Early Childhood Studies and Forest School, level 3. Our Deputy Play Leader Tina Brown has a level 3 qualification in Children's care, Learning and Development. Penny Daykin has a Level 3 Diploma in Early Childhood and Education and started her Forest School Level 3 on 5 October 2020.
Our members of staff undertake regular training courses to ensure that they are up-to-date with the standards required at the pre-school today. They are first aid trained and police checked regularly.
Chirton Pips Pre School is run by a voluntary committee made up of parents, ex-parents and some members of the community. The committee is responsible for the overall management of the pre-school, its general smooth-running and fund raising. The committee meets each term. New members - with new ideas :) are always welcome!
As the Pre-School is registered with OFSTED we comply with the Child Protection Committee. All our staff are vetted in accordance with the Children Act 1996.
Our SENCO (Special Educational Needs Co-Ordinator); works closely with parents/carers, the child and other professionals to ensure that every child has the possible start in life.
All interests, knowledge, ideas, skills that would be useful to pre-school and children are very welcome. We need volunteers for a wide range activities, like reading a book, playing an instrument, or ... all those little things that can be done at home, like: repairing books and toys, washing dressing up clothes.
Makaton is a unique language programme which uses signs and symbols, along with spoken language, to encourage communication skills and develop speech, promoting self confidence and self esteem.
The Manager uses Makaton and other members of staff are beginning to use it.
